Non-addressable fire alarm packages that work on a zoning-system of fire detectors are usually more cost effective for smaller premises, but if properly designed, installed and looked after, these can still provide clear indication of alarms and also integrate with other systems (such as automatic doors) to enhance the functionality of your fire alarm.

Specialised detection systems are also available, including Video Smoke Detection (VSD) systems that cover previously unsolvable fire detection scenarios, such as large external areas that otherwise would not have been practical to cover with automatic fire detection.
